A Hero for All People...A Fellow Traveler for those who are Believers! Today marks the 40th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr's assasination. Someone who took a stand for what was right.
No he was not perfect...he was very human but he stood up when many fellow Christians did not...
No he wasn't always right....he made mistakes like all of us but he said what he thought the Lord was telling him to say. He stood for those who did not have a voice. He was my hero. His life gives me courage to take a stand when I see an injustice.
He was someone who I admired for taking a stand for the poor and oppressed.
Whether you agree with all that he said or did...he remained as true as any human can to the call out of Isaiah 58:
" I'll tell what it really means to worship the Lord. Remove the chains of prisoners who are chained unjustly. Free those who are abused. Share your food with everyone who is hungry. Share your home with the poor and homeless. Give clothes to those in need. Don't turn away your relatives. Then, your light will shine...and you will quickly be healed.(Contemporary English Version)
Be at peace with one another......
