INVITE THE UNINVITED!

Mac Crum, pastor of Hope Community, and other church leaders were interviewed in the Montgomery Advertiser because they have a heart for reaching hurting people, particularly the prostitutes in Montgomery.
Jesus said: " The next time you put on a dinner, don't just invite your friends and family and rich neighbors, the kind of people who will return the favor. Invite some people who never get invited out, the misfits from the wrong side of the tracks. You'll be-and experience-a blessing. They wont be able to return the favor, but the favor will be returned-oh, how it will be returned!-at the resurrection of God's people Luke 14:14

SPEAKER Barbara Oden, long time Baptist missionary in the Church and Community Ministries world, will be speaking about ways you and your church can transform your community. Her expertise is in Multi-Housing Ministries. She has served in TX most of her tenure but has served in other urban areas as well. She will be sharing ways to reach apartment complexes, public housing, mobile home parks, etc. as well as ways you can reach your neighborhood for Christ.

Ten Ways You Can Serve Greater Montgomery

1. Connect with one of the 6 Cooperative Ministries listed on this blog.

2. Do a neighborhood survey and find out what your community wants and needs.

3. Tithe 1/10 of your garden and give to a family in need.

4. Read to a child at one of the public schools in your area. The administration would love to have you serve.

5. Start an Fellowship of Christian Athletes club at a local jr high or high school.

6. Take gift bags to new neighbors around your home or church with information about the church/community.

7. Adopt a school and be a prayer partner with them.

8. Call Alabama Post/Pre Adoption Connections(APAC-334-409-9477) in Montgomery and find out how you can support adoptive families.

9. Offer to host an ESL or Conversational English class in your church. Someone can come and train your church to teach ESL too.
